Sr Romina Pietrangelo (Vicaress General) in France
From 2 to 9 March 2026, sr Romina visited the community in Carcassonne, which is going through a period of transition with the recent arrival of a new sister, Sr Kenny Korie from the community in Albi, and the awaited arrival of sr Felicitas Nabwueze, who is currently stuck in Rome at the community in Via degli Artisti due to administrative procedures.
Many meetings and some significant events marked the days spent together:
– a short pilgrimage to Prouilhe, and prayer with our nuns joyful and welcoming as always;
– an unexpected meeting with the Bishop of Carcassonne – Monsignor Bruno Valentin – and with the Vicar General, who expressed a willingness to consider – together with the sisters – their pastoral involvement;;
– a day spent at our secondary school “St Thomas d’Aquin” in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, to meet Sr Ashi at the conclusion of an official school inspection (visite de Tutelle) which she carried out together with a team from the Dominican Family: an audit of the education community that highlighted its great strengths and its challengest. In particular, in a few days’ time, the trial relating to the murder in 2023 of a Spanish teacher, Agnès Lassalle, is due to take place. This anniversary is stirring up a great deal of concern within the educational community, and many are counting on our prayers.
