THE CAUSE

CAUSE

Mother Teresa Solari died on 7 May 1908 and was buried in the Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno in Genoa.
The people of Genoa in particular, but not only they, soon began to visit her tomb; they began to venerate her, firmly believing in her help even from Heaven. They asked Mother Teresa for graces in situations of hardship, illness or work- related difficulties, and many prayers were answered. There are many testimonies and soon began to visit her tomb.

The extraordinary testimony of Steve’s parents..

Below are some fundamental stages of the ongoing cause of beatification:

19th March 1999

Father Giovanni Tomasi – appointed as Postulator by the Dominican Sisters of Saint Catherine of Siena – formally requested Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi to initiate the process of beatification and canonization of Mother Teresa Solari. The diocesan inquiry took place from 18 April 2000 to 7 June 2006.

2005

An event occurred that would later be recognized as a presumed miracle: Carine and Antoine, an African couple living in Genoa were expecting a child. Steve was born at the Gaslini hospital with a serious intestinal malformation and was in danger of dying. Fr. Giovanni Tomasi, who knows this couple very well, suggested that they pray to Mother Teresa Solari. They accepted this invitation and placed a prayer card of Mother Teresa Solari on Steve’s crib, asking doctors, nurses and all visitors to pray for him. Steve inexplicably recovered.

11th April 2008

The cause of Mother Teresa Solari was officially presented in Rome to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, which recognized the validity of all the juridical documentation collected. The documentation concerning the presumed miracle involving Steve was also submitted to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.

On 12 October 2021 he presented the Positio (collection of documents and testimonies) on the life, virtues and reputation for holiness of the Servant of God, Teresa Solari - to the Historical Commission of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints. The evaluation was positive.
