EcoMisión – Province of Latin America

Feb 9, 2026

From 5 to 15 January 2026, the ‘EcoMisión’ took place in Mar del Plata (Argentina): a time to listen to the echo of God’s voice and with an ecological imprint to promote care for creation.
Sisters from different communities in our Latin American Province, together with lay women and young people from Santiago del Estero, Mendoza and Buenos Aires, spent ten days proclaiming the Gospel and fraternal sharing.
Below is the testimony of a young woman who took part in this experience.

My name is Nazarena, from La Consulta, Mendoza. I had the opportunity to participate in ECOmission 2026 with the Dominican Sisters of Saint Catherine of Siena in the 2 de Abril neighbourhood in Mar del Plata.

The name of this mission expresses two profound meanings that we were able to reflect on during our moments of study and prayer during the days we spent together. On the one side, it refers to caring for the environment and the call for ecological conversion, as Pope Francis invites us to do in his encyclical Laudato sí. On the other side, it refers to the echo that resonates in our hearts: the voice of God inviting us to discover our own mission and vocation within the Church.
During these days, we shared various activities with the community of the neighborhood: an EcoAdventure with the children, spaces for prayer and reflection with the adults, visits to homes and families, a procession with Our Lady of Fatima, and moments of singing and dancing with the elderly residents of the retirement home. In each encounter, we discovered the face of Jesus, who walks with us and accompanies us with love.
This experience helped me to silence my heart in order to listen to the personal call to serve and seek God in the simple and everyday things. I learned that fear should not paralyse me, but can be transformed into an impulse to go out to meet others and proclaim a message of faith, hope and love, especially to other young people who do not yet know the greatness of this love.
