MOTHER SOLARI DECLARED VENERABLE

Dec 18, 2025

On 18 December 2025, Pope Leo XIV authorized the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints to promulgate the Decree of Venerability for Teresa Solari, officially recognizing the exemplary Christian life she lived
With this decree, the Church acknowledges that Teresa Solari lived the virtues of faith, hope and charity in a heroic manner. The title of Venerable represents a fundamental step on the path to beatification and invites us all to look to her life as a concrete model of holiness lived in everyday life.

Teresa Solari spent much of her life in Genoa, where her body now rests in the Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno, a place of prayer and devotion. Even today, many people visit her tomb to entrust their intentions to her, implore graces and find comfort, a sign of a veneration that has remained alive over time and has spread.
Her witness is that of a woman who, marked by suffering and trials, was able to transform suffering into love given to others. Teresa Solari devoted herself especially to orphans, the marginalized, those living on the edges of society, offering concrete help, welcome and hope. Her life remains a shining example of resilience, showing how even from the deepest wounds good can arise.
The declaration of Venerability officially recognizes what the people of God already perceived: simple, yet profoundly evangelical life, capable even today of speaking to the hearts of many.
Teresa Solari’s work continues to live today through important socio-educational services in Genoa: CEAS “Casa Famiglia Teresa Solari,” CEDIS “La Camelia,” and an Housing Emergency Service managed by the Gérine Fabre Foundation.

Heartfelt thanks go to the postulator of the cause, Fr Francesco Ricci, OP, for his precious and patient work, which that has led to this important recognition.
